Frustrated with my working design plate for school one night, I doodled Mai Kujaku just to let off some steam. Afterwards, I couldn't let it go and went on to draw more doodles... one of Jounnichi Katsuya and another one w/ both of them in it since I was inlove with the couple at that time...
I managed to finish rendering this one, the others will have to wait for a while.
Yeah, I know, WTF is with that stupid background? The answer is... I don't know myself. Backgrounds are my weakness.
That's so super cute!! Mai is one of my fave characters and this is just such a cute rendition of her! ^_^

the truth is, you really should just use pencil. i didn't know this until i started work at the studio, but the animation we see on tv (at least some of the western ones) are done in pencil, scanned in the computer to be cleaned, rendered and composited for animation. No ink, no acetate cells... just pencil and animation paper.
the secret is clean lines and neat workmanship. I used to ink my work w/ 0.1 pens but I still got thick lines. I haven't tried plain pencil, but since they're currently using it in animation (if you have anime magazines like newtype, take a close look at the lines of some of their images and you will notice pencil burns meaning they weren't inked at all), then it must be true.

I actually, originally used penciol to line before. Much easier and less time to line. Just started to ink just recently. I actually find it better to use o and Panter for pencil works, though. Compliments smudges. Thanks, though...
